In the Ok to Play project, communities will have the opportunity to co-design hyper-local approaches to transform underused neighbourhood spaces, such as their doorsteps, pavements and residential streets into places that encourage play, social activity and creativity.
We are interested in answering four questions:
- What is the history of neighbourhoods for children and families and how does this impact on neighbourhood usage today?
- What are children’s perceptions and experiences of these spaces in terms of play and physical activity?
- What narratives exist around play, safety and community in the neighbourhood and how are these shared across generations and communities?
- What individual creative actions can encourage cultural shifts in using spaces and the wider neighbourhood?
An information sheet for parents who are interested in finding out more can be found here.
